My Children’s
Future

FOREWORD
Cambodia currently has one of the highest proportion of AIDS
orphans in Asia. According to the report from National AIDS
Authority (NAA), by the end of 2003 about 60,000 children in
Cambodia have been orphaned due to the country’s AIDS
epidemic.
Due to these problems, all PLHAs parents are concerned about
the future of their children becoming orphans, turning to crime or
begging to survive. The goal of this booklet is to assist PLHAs
parents in planning for their children's future and integrating of their
children into the community thereby addressing issues related to
the increasing number of orphans in Cambodia. This booklet can
also be used for non-PLHAs parents who want to plan for a better
future for their children.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This booklet was developed by the IEC Working Group which
consists of the Cambodian People Living With HIV/AIDS Network
(CPN+) and the HIV/AIDS Coordinating Committee (HACC), with
technical assistance from Pact Cambodia. The Working Group
would like to express its thanks to the monks of Salvation Centre
Cambodia (SCC), the Chroy Changvar commune chief, and other
support group members and institutions that provided information
and allowed the working group to take pictures for this booklet.
