<strong>Job</strong> Title: <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong> Intern<br />

Salary Range: This is an unpaid internship. School credit is available.<br />

Department: <strong>Marketing</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Relations</strong><br />

Reports to: The director of public relations, with frequent collaboration with the directors of<br />

marketing, sales <strong>and</strong> customer service.<br />

Employment Status: Temporary<br />

Position Summary: <strong>Pacific</strong> <strong>Symphony</strong> seeks a <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Marketing</strong> Intern who is<br />

excited to apply their academic knowledge to real-world writing, media relations, marketing<br />

<strong>and</strong> promotions scenarios. Duties may include writing PR materials or marketing copy<br />

including press releases, website copy, coordinating program books <strong>and</strong> specialty publications,<br />

managing PR archives <strong>and</strong> photo resources, coordinating guests for live radio broadcasts,<br />

preparing media kits, planning special events or promotions, working with other departments<br />

to improve communication efforts, interacting with outside design vendors <strong>and</strong> members of<br />

the media, assisting with social media outreach efforts with possible opportunities for filming,<br />

interviewing <strong>and</strong> editing video, <strong>and</strong> collecting research <strong>and</strong> assisting the <strong>Symphony</strong>’s overall<br />

marketing <strong>and</strong> PR campaigns.<br />

Minimum <strong>Job</strong> Requirements: This position requires strong written <strong>and</strong> verbal<br />

communication skills, proof-reading skills, the ability to work to deadlines <strong>and</strong> effectively<br />

multi-task. Some knowledge <strong>and</strong> a love of classical music <strong>and</strong>/or an interest in a career in the<br />

non-profit arts is highly regarded. C<strong>and</strong>idates pursuing a degree in <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Relations</strong>,<br />

Communications, Journalism, Business, <strong>Marketing</strong> or another related field strongly preferred.<br />

Working Conditions: The position is considered an unpaid internship <strong>and</strong> requires 15-30<br />

hours a week (depending on role assigned). The intern will be provided with all tools<br />

necessary to complete job requirements. While the majority of the position duties will be<br />

completed in the office, some events are outdoors <strong>and</strong> in the concert hall. Some small<br />

amounts of driving may be required to transport supplies to events or attend off-site meetings.<br />

Availability:<br />

• Office Hours, Monday-Friday, anytime between 10am <strong>and</strong> 6pm.<br />

• Some weekends <strong>and</strong> weeknights, depending on role assigned<br />

• Length <strong>and</strong> time period of internship will depend on each intern’s individual goals,<br />

with internships available for anywhere from one month to a year.
