ARTICLE 11 - COMPETITION [09.28.11]
11.1.1 In the past, the policy of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference regarding schools
who did not compete in championships was to make them ineligible for that year and the following
year. However, due to the turnover in coaches and athletic directors and schools changing
their minds regarding competing, the Executive Board has created the following policy for the
2012-2013 school year.
11.1.2 Should a school choose not to compete for a championship in a sport that they
sponsor, they will be ineligible for that school year only. [Compete means failure to schedule the
minimum number of games, leave required dates open, or just choose not to take part.] However,
in doing so, they will also:
•Forfeit the right to have athletes for that sport gain All-Conference recognition;
[Effective 2012-2013]
•Forfeit the right to earn “sports specific” scholarships. [Effective 2012-2013]
•Forfeit the right to participate in any All-Star game for that sport; [Effective 2013-2014]
