[STRPNEAG] S.pneumoniae Antigen - UR/CSF<br />

<strong>Test</strong>ing for Streptococcus pneumoniae antigen is performed<br />

on a limited basis on cases of suspected meningitis &<br />

septicemia. Criteria for performance include:<br />

a. pretreatment of the patient with antibiotics prior to<br />

specimen collection, or<br />

b. other lab tests of the CSF which indicate bacterial meningitis<br />

(high protein, low glucose, high cell count), or<br />

c. positive gram stain of CSF consistent with the morphology<br />

of S. pneumoniae.<br />

This test will be rejected if the above criteria are not met.<br />

Minimum requirements:<br />

CSF: 0.1 ml<br />

Urine: 1 ml<br />

[STRYCH] Strychnine Level<br />

SPECIMEN REQUIRED: Refrigerated serum or plasma<br />

TUBE OR CONTAINER: Red, Lavender(EDTA) or Gray(Sodium fluoride)<br />

SPECIAL HANDLING: Do NOT collect specimen in gel barrier tube<br />
