Introduction
The Distal Radius
and Carpals
Fractures of the Distal Radius and
Carpals account for over 20% of all
fractures annually. These fractures also
afflict the young and old alike.
Additonally, surgeons are treating a
large number of repetitive stress
disorders. For this reason, today’s
surgeons need many treatment options
in order to effectively rehabilitate their
patients.
Stryker® realizes this need, and
through continued innovation, offers a
full line of implants and instruments
dedicated to the treatment fractures
and disorders of the wrist.
Plating Systems
VariAx Polyaxial
Locking Plate
System
The VariAx Distal Radius Plating
System represents the next generation
of bone fixation for virtually all of
your Distal Radius fracture needs. It is
designed to offer a comprehensive
selection of plates, screws, pegs and
unique instrumentation necessary to
maintain the stability of the distal
radius lesion, while providing your
surgical staff a user-friendly module
layout.
All plates are made of pure titanium,
and they are treated with Type 2
Annodisation to limit tissue adherence.
Each hole is capable of 15° locking
screw trajectory in any direction. The
2mm profile height of the plate
provides added strength to the
plate/screw construct.
Plating Systems
Matrix SmartLock
Polyaxial Locking
Plate System
The Matrix SmartLock System
combines polyaxial locking with a lowprofile
plate design. With a 1.5mm
profile height, these pure titanium
plates provide a locking screw
trajectory of 10° in any direction.
Screw Options
Simple instrumentation and product
offering is the key to this system.
Hospital inventory costs can be
minimised. The system carries 2.7mm
screws in locking and non-locking
versions, as well as a 3.0mm cancellous
screws.
When faced with more simple fracture
patterns and good quality bone,
locking plates could be a costly and
unnecessary treatment option.
Stryker®’s SPS Conventional Small
Fragment Plating System offers T-
Plates and Oblique T-Plates for use in
the Distal Radius. Titanium and
Stainless Steel versions are available.
Cannulated Screw Systems
Asnis III
Cannulated
Screw System
Cannulated screws are one the most
used treatment options in orthopedics
today. From the Foot to the Pelvis to
the Forearm, cannulated screws are
indispensable in treating a variety of
fractures. In the Distal Radius region,
a 4mm screw may be used to lag a
fractured Radial Styloid. Using
standard compression techniques, the
fracture can be reduced and
maintained with minimal internal
fixation.
TwinFix 3.2mm
Cannulated
Compression
Screw
The most commonly fractured carpal
bone is the Scaphoid. Stryker® offers a
unique solution for this fracture in the
TwinFix. This device is designed with
two independent screw threads which
provide controlled compression to the
fracture site. With simple
instrumentation and a variety of
lengths, the TwinFix offers a smart
solution for treating scaphoid
fractures.
External Fixation and HA Bone Substitute
Hoffmann ® II
Compact
If the soft tissues or fracture pattern
calls for an External Fixator, the
Hoffmann® II Compact could be the
treatment of choice. With the patented
Snap Fit couplings and the Apex® self
drilling half pins, this system is one of
the leading External Fixation systems
in the market today. And with the
MRI version of the Hoffmann® II
Compact, this fixator can be used
safely in an MRI environment up to
3.0 Tesla.
HydroSet
Injectable HA
Bone Substitute
Fracture gaps are often seen in
comminuted Distal Radius fractures.
Some surgeons prefer to use bone
substitutes to fill these gaps. Stryker®
offers an innovative HA Bone
Substitute with HydroSet .
The injectable self-setting calcium
phosphate material allows the surgeon
to fill bone voids or gaps of the skeletal
system (i.e., extremities, craniofacial,
spine, and pelvis). These defects may
be surgically created or osseous defects
created from traumatic injury to the
bone.
HydroSet is delivered in 3, 5, 10, or
15cc quantities. 3cc and 5cc are
normally suitable for voids in the
Distal Radius.
Instrumentation
KnifeLight -
Instrument for
Minimal Invasive
Carpal Tunnel
Ligament Release
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common
repetitive stress disorder which affects
up to 10% of the population today.
Stryker® offers a product which treats
this painful disorder in a minimally
invasive surgical approach.
The KnifeLight combines a surgical
blade with a light in its handle which
allows visualization of soft tissues.
CORE Micro
System
Small bone surgery requires special
solutions. Therefore the CORE system
is an ideal solution. The electrical
system consists of manifold
components which can be configured
individually.
+ Powerful drilling, cutting and
burring
+ Versatile applications
+ Simple operation of the console
and components
