Conclusions:
The presence of Cityporto transit point allows a net reduction of the route length for
deliveries in the inner city.
Despite of the engines and fuel used by Cityporto vehicles, the service results in a
significant reduction of congestion and emissions.
A study of Università Bocconi di Milano shows that in a surveyed period of 15 months,
from September 2004 to December 2005, the implementation of Cityporto service
determined the reduction of pollutants as follows:
• CO 2 : 38,4 Ton
• CO: 202 Kg
• NOx: 163 Kg
• SOx: 16,3 Kg
• VOC: 58,1 Kg
• PM10: 41,4 Kg
Despite the point of view of pollution and congestion reduction, the service is the first
project in Italy financially successful, with an industrial plan aimed to sustainability.
Cityporto has been proving to be a possible model to be exported not only in Italy.
