• Log <strong>and</strong> record areas that by definition <strong>of</strong> (not materially alter) have added or modified the<br />

drawing <strong>and</strong>/or specifications <strong>for</strong> OSHPD review upon visits<br />

• Log <strong>and</strong> record the areas where St<strong>and</strong>ard Details have been incorporated <strong>for</strong> OSHPD<br />

review upon visits<br />

• Provide courtesy notices to the contractor, design pr<strong>of</strong>essionals concerned <strong>of</strong> deficiencies<br />

observed prior to requests <strong>for</strong> inspections being requested.<br />

• The IOR may serve as a special inspector when approved in the TIO Program. (See<br />

Section 5 <strong>of</strong> this volume <strong>for</strong> additional in<strong>for</strong>mation on special inspections.) The IOR is<br />

responsible <strong>for</strong> assuring that all areas requiring special inspections are inspected <strong>and</strong><br />

accepted by special inspectors. The IOR shall maintain on the job a file containing daily<br />

field reports <strong>for</strong> all special inspections.<br />

Plans <strong>and</strong> Specifications<br />

The IOR should have in his or her possession the following to safeguard the public by verifying<br />

that the hospital building(s) is constructed in accordance with the approved documents:<br />

• approved drawings <strong>and</strong> specifications;<br />

• all documents relating to changes, amended documents, deferred submittals, <strong>and</strong><br />

Requests <strong>for</strong> In<strong>for</strong>mation (RFIs) <strong>for</strong> clarification <strong>of</strong> construction documents; <strong>and</strong><br />

• the related building codes <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ards as indicated by CAN 1 <strong>and</strong> the approved<br />

documents.<br />

The IOR shall maintain a record set <strong>of</strong> the approved documents:<br />

• The record set shall be a true representative <strong>of</strong> the work in place.<br />

• Realize that approved shop drawings are not Contract Documents. They serve to clarify or<br />

show more detail, but the approved drawings <strong>and</strong> specifications prevail if there is a<br />

conflict.<br />

• Deferred submittals require additional monitoring by the IOR <strong>for</strong> approval from OSHPD<br />

<strong>and</strong> incorporation into the approved documents.<br />

• <strong>Project</strong> specifications are maintained <strong>and</strong> must be updated with the changes that occur to<br />

the same extent that the drawings are updated through clarifications, <strong>and</strong> RFIs.<br />
