LETTER OF TRANSMISSION
To the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences:
From May 25,lg2},to June 15, 1928, the Experimental department of the Paramount
Famous Lasky Corporation conducted a series of tests to determine the illumination
value of Arc and Incandescent light sources in terms of white, middle tones and
black in respect to the common film emulsions now in general use' Although every
precaution was taken to regulate the attendant conditions, we do not wish' inasmuch
as the tests were made with especial reference to conditions and problems at the Para'
mount Studio, that the results be taken as conclusive with regard to quality of either
illuminating sources or negative film emulsions used'
'We are glad to submit to the Academy our test film and the accompanying
records and reports in the hope that they will be of some value to Academy members
and readers of the Academy reports.
