PASCAL Academic Resources Coordinator, Partnership Among South<br />

Carolina Academic Libraries, December 2005 – present. Columbia, SC.<br />

Collaborate with PASCAL colleagues, committee representatives and vendors to<br />

provide programmatic leadership, development, and training for “PASCAL<br />

Delivers,” a statewide borrowing program based on Innovative Interfaces’<br />

physical union catalog. Create and administer training program and associated<br />

wiki-based documentation for statewide consortium. Experience writing and<br />

reviewing RFP for statewide book delivery; primary responsibility for managing<br />

delivery service.<br />

Consortial-level manager for electronic resource expenditures in excess of one<br />

million dollars per year. Manage additional opt-in deals and participate in<br />

contract negotiation with new and renewing vendors. Schedule and coordinate<br />

professional development for licensed products, support IP and proxy access,<br />

liaise between vendor and library regarding usage statistics and campus<br />

implementation. In collaboration with systems librarian, programmatic leader<br />

for federated search using Innovative’s Research Pro software.<br />

Leader-member role with two key PASCAL committees: Universal Borrowing<br />

and Consortial Purchasing. Collaborative leadership with committee chairs<br />

regarding program and policy development, data analysis, presentations, best<br />

practices interpretation and vendor negotiation. As part of a small staff in a<br />

relatively new consortium, work collegially to articulate and refine real time and<br />

web-based business practices befitting a statewide consortium with 58 diverse<br />

academic member libraries.<br />

Academic Computing Specialist Coordinator and Liaison to the<br />

Library-faculty coordinator of a five team of liaisons who provide curriculumspecific<br />

information technology support to the various schools of the College.<br />

Initiated a proposal and budget for a new Faculty Technology Center that<br />

opened in the fall of 1999, offering computing facilities and expertise<br />

unavailable in faculty departments or offices. Introduced WebCT to faculty and<br />

students in the summer of 1999; responsible for training, implementation, and<br />

programmatic evaluation of WebCT program.<br />

As School of the Arts liaison, responsible for special projects involving<br />

information technology. Researched and created a reproducible, economical,<br />

web-based image database for art history classes. Prior to this digital solution,<br />

students preparing for exams were limited to physically checking out slide<br />

carousels from the library’s circulation desk.<br />

Electronic Resources Librarian, July 1996 - August 1998. Robert Scott<br />

Webmaster for library site; chair of library web committee. Responsible for<br />

campus Internet education program for faculty, staff and students. Responsible<br />

for library faculty and staff training program, including orientation of new<br />

librarians and part-time librarians. Provide reference service to users;<br />

participate in library instruction, special lectures, and tours; teach two different<br />

one-credit library classes in rotation with other librarians; act as collection<br />

development liaison to Studio Art and other assigned areas.<br />

Interlibrary Loan Coordinator, August 1993 - July 1996. Robert Scott<br />

Small Library, College of Charleston, SC.<br />

Managed interlibrary loan activities and the developed a book delivery program<br />

for faculty; supervised two Library Technical Assistants, two part-time<br />

Librarians, and student assistants; recommended and implemented policies for<br />

Interlibrary Loan; introduced new technology; processed invoices and<br />

payments; increased fiscally responsible reciprocal agreements from fewer than<br />

50 to more than 400. Provided reference service, taught Library 101, acted as<br />

collection development liaison for various departments.<br />

Special projects: designed web pages for the library, created web-authoring<br />

classes for faculty and staff, wrote first perl-script web forms used by any<br />

campus department, designed first PowerPoint lectures and web pages used for<br />

library instruction.<br />
