RULES OF CONDUCT<br />

1. Parking<br />

Bicycles and motorcycles must be parked in their designated areas. International houses do not provide<br />

parking spaces for cars.<br />

2. Kerosene Heaters<br />

Kerosene heaters are prohibited for safety and air purity reasons.<br />

3. Pets<br />

No pets are allowed.<br />

4. Overnight Stay of Visitors<br />

Visitors are not allowed to stay overnight and are requested to leave by 9 pm. However, in emergency<br />

cases such as a resident’s illness, attending persons may stay after obtaining permission from the house<br />

office.<br />

RULES OF CONDUCT<br />

5. Using Common Areas<br />

・Use common sense when using common areas. Be courteous of others.<br />

・Common areas are closed between 10 pm and 7 am. All common areas are designated non-smoking.<br />

・Contact the house office immediately if anything has been broken or damaged in the common areas.<br />

・Clean up after yourself.<br />

6. No Shoes inside the Rooms<br />

Leave your shoes at the entrance of your unit.<br />

7. Absence<br />

Residents who plan to leave their units for more than a week are asked to inform the house office of their<br />

plans in advance.<br />

8. Unit Keys<br />

These should not be duplicated nor lent to others under any circumstances.<br />

9. Loss/Damages<br />

If a resident is found to be responsible for loss or damage to equipment and/or facilities, he/she shall be<br />

required to pay for its replacement.<br />

10. Illegal Drug Possession<br />

The possession and/or use of cannabis, narcotic and psychotropic drugs, opium, stimulants, thinners,<br />

MDMA etc. are strictly prohibited by law in Japan. Violators will be arrested and prosecuted as criminals,<br />

and will receive severe punishments that include but are not limited to imprisonment and deportation. DO<br />

NOT GET INVOLVED with these drugs under any circumstances!<br />

11. Waste Disposal<br />

Rules for garbage collection and recycling vary according to area. Follow the instructions provided by the<br />

house office at each international house.<br />

12. Excessive Noise<br />

Loud noises and voices during the night, especially after 10 pm, are a disturbance to the neighborhood and<br />

should be avoided.
