Opera Gallery London is proud to present British photographer Zoobs´s latest scrolls in an
exhibition curated by Jean David Malat - Director of Opera Gallery London, in the renowned
Blakes luxury boutique Hotel in Chelsea.
Zoobs will exhibit in the Hotel ten new works that were never exposed to the public before
and the launch will take place in the evening with a good crown of beautiful people and
celebrities supporting Zoobs´s work of art.
At the occasion of this event, it is remarkable to say that this is the first time that an artist is
commissioned to reproduce an artwork on a London black cab.
Indeed several «scrolled» black cabs will travel around London after the official launch
displaying some of Zoobs´s works.
"My images are neither illustrations nor photographs. they stand somewhere in between the two in
their full technicolor or monochromatic glory and magazine-like glossiness, often verging on the unreal
or fantasy'.
With firsthand experience in working under the renowned image-maker and colour-creator Serge
Lutens for Shiseido Cosmetics Intl. in Tokyo and Paris in the late nineties, Zoobs continues to travel
extensively and incorporates different cultures and their representations into his breathtaking iconic
images that are often themed with death, love, pain, celebration and magic. His images verge on the
surreal, and are haunting and sinister yet fashionably edged, sensual, desirable and contemporary.
Jean-David Malat – the Director of Opera Gallery London – discovered Zoobs two years ago. Ever since
then, Jean-David has been following him very closely, notably organising Zoobs’s first exhibition at
Opera Gallery in London in June 2010.

The artist´s original scroll technique consists of mixed media on printed photograph.
At the beginning of 2011 media attention was brought to him after he painted the first portrait of Kate
Middleton as Queen of England. The words ‘God save the future Queen’ were printed at the top and
bottom of the image whilst ‘the next pistol’ stretched across Middleton’s mouth. . The work was meant
as a tribute to Kate and a spokeswoman from the gallery said that Zoobs viewed Middleton ‘as a new
fashionista very much like the Princess of Wales’. Zoobs created 100 individual prints of this picture,
which were sold with the profits going to Zoobs chosen Charity “Freedom from Sorrow”.
After this piece, Zoobs also payed tribute to Prince William, depicted as the King of Pop on a mixed
media on printed photograph on wood.
With tattoos painted all around his face and neck, the Prince appeared as a young pop-rock idol, the
perfect match for his, at that time, fashion icon wife-to-be Kate Middleton.
