5.6. Overlap Model<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> Orientati<strong>on</strong> Model, presented above, investigated, to some degree, how the potential effects<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> wind turbines might be impacted by how a home is oriented to the surrounding envir<strong>on</strong>ment.<br />
In so doing, this model began to peel back the relati<strong>on</strong>ship between VIEW and VISTA, but<br />
stopped short <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> looking at the relati<strong>on</strong>ship directly. It would be quite useful, though, to<br />
understand the explicit relati<strong>on</strong>ship between the VISTA and VIEW variables. In particular, <strong>on</strong>e<br />
might expect that views <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> wind turbines would have a particularly significant impact <strong>on</strong><br />
residential property values when those views str<strong>on</strong>gly overlap (“OVERLAP”) the prominent<br />
scenic vista from a home. To investigate this possibility directly, and, in general, the relati<strong>on</strong>ship<br />
between VIEW and VISTA, a parameter for OVERLAP is included in the model.<br />
