Data Collecti<strong>on</strong> and Summary<br />

Kewaunee and Door Counties did not have a countywide system <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> electr<strong>on</strong>ic data storage for<br />

either sales or home characteristic data. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>refore, in many cases, data had to be collected<br />

directly from the town or city assessor. In Kewaunee County, Joseph A. Jerabek <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Lincoln, Gary Taicher <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Red River, Melissa Dar<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the towns <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Casco, Pierce,<br />

and West Kewaunee, Michael Muelver <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Ahnapee and the city <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Algoma, William<br />

Gerrits <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Casco, Joseph Griesbach Jr. <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Luxemburg, and David<br />

Dorschner <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the city <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Kewaunee all provided informati<strong>on</strong>. In Door County, Scott Tennessen<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Uni<strong>on</strong> and Gary Maccoux <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the town <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Brussels were similarly very helpful in<br />

providing informati<strong>on</strong>. Additi<strong>on</strong>ally, Andy Pelkey <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>Impact</str<strong>on</strong>g> C<strong>on</strong>sultants, Inc., John Holt<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

Associated Appraisal C<strong>on</strong>sultants, Andy Bayliss <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Dash Development Group, and Lue Van<br />

Asten <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Acti<strong>on</strong> Appraisers & C<strong>on</strong>sultants all assisted in extracting data from the myriad <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

storage systems used at the town and city level. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> State <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Wisc<strong>on</strong>sin provided additi<strong>on</strong>al<br />

informati<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> older sales and sales validity, with Mary Gawryleski, James Bender, and Patrick<br />

Strabala from the Wisc<strong>on</strong>sin Department <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Revenue being extremely helpful. GIS data were<br />

obtained from Steve Hans<strong>on</strong> from Kewaunee County and Tom Haight from Door County.<br />

After collecting data from each municipality, a total <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> 810 valid single-family home sales<br />

transacti<strong>on</strong>s were available for analysis, ranging in time from 1996 to 2007. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g>se sales ranged<br />

in price from $20,000 to $780,000, with a mean <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> $116,698. Because development <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the wind<br />

facilities occurred relatively early in the study period, a large majority <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the sales transacti<strong>on</strong>s,<br />

75% (n = 725), occurred after project c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong> had commenced. Of those, 64 had views <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

the turbines, 14 <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> which had more dramatic than MINOR views, and 11 sales occurred within<br />

<strong>on</strong>e mile.<br />
