If an error occurs in an Inline station while automatically<br />

reading the configuration or during test mode, the same error<br />

message as with INTERBUS Loop is displayed (see<br />

page 42). However, the counting method for Inline stations is<br />

different.<br />

In an Inline station, the forward and return line are run in one<br />

device. Thus, the devices are counted twice, if required (on<br />

the forward and return paths). The last module in an Inline<br />

station is counted once.<br />

Devices are counted only if they have a "D" diagnostic<br />

indicator. Supply terminals and branch terminals are not<br />

counted.<br />

In the above example, five steps are to be counted against the<br />

transmission direction from the bus terminal module. The<br />

error occurred prior to this module, i.e., between module 4.2<br />

and module 4.3.<br />
