Error Localization<br />
If a bus error occurs in the bus system, a diagnostic routine is<br />
automatically started on the controller board. This routine<br />
attempts to start up the bus one segment at a time in order to<br />
locate the error.<br />
During error localization the display shows the message<br />
LOOK FOR FAIL (Figure 16).<br />
The background illumination changes to red.<br />

Message during error localization<br />

On <strong>com</strong>pletion of the diagnostic routine, the detected error is<br />
shown on the display. Possible indications:<br />
– RBUS for a remote bus error<br />
– LBUS for a local bus error<br />
– BUS for a general bus error<br />
– OUT1 for an error at the outgoing interface<br />
– OUT2 for an error at the branching interface<br />
– DEV for an error on the device<br />
With FW 4.35 or later, the station name can be displayed for<br />
priority 1 and 2 located errors by pressing ENTER. However,<br />
this is only possible if the name was previously assigned to<br />
the segment and position using CMD or PC WORX software.<br />
