From 7th to 10th May already the 7th year of the famous Beer Festival
more than 100 kinds of beer to choose from here. Performances of
roughly forty bands form an integral part of the festival. The festival’s
The number of accommodated visitors in Olomouc keeps
rising, the statistics say
The Tourism Department of the Olomouc City Hall has recently finished
processing accommodation statistics for the city of Olomouc in 2007.
The results of the statistics are pleasing. Since 2006 there has been a
repeated increase in the number of accommodated visitors to the city,
namely from 113,398 (in 2006) to 121,259 tourists – out of which
there were 73,221 domestic visitors.
German citizens formed the majority of foreign accommodated visitors
to the city (7.919), followed by Slovaks (6.832). polish guests (3.775)
finished in third place, followed by visitors from Russia and Italy.
Visitors to the city spent an average of 2.1 days here, which is a comparable
figure to 2006.
The visitors used the accommodation services in the hotel category
most (78,120 tourists), hostels (26,019 guests) and guest-houses
(17,156 guests) categories follow.
Tourists visit Olomouc most in the months of September (8,366 people),
October, August, and then also in May and June. These facts correspond
to the numbers of held seminars and events in the city, which is
highly pleasing.
The tourist discount card Olomouc region Card records another successful year in 2007!
Sales of the Olomouc region Cards in 2007 surpassed the expectations
of the project holders – the City of Olomouc and the Olomouc Region.
The sales of the cards more than sufficiently met anticipations. In 2007,
3167 cards were sold, which is one thousand cards more than
was originally planned. Successful cooperation with travel agencies CK
ČEDOK, CK Atis, and CK Pressburg (that offer the cards as a part of
holidays spent in the Central Moravia and Jeseniky regions) played a
major role in the card sales. Additional “smart” sales locations were
the Olomouc Information Centre and the Czech Railways Centre at the
Olomouc train station.
And which sites did tourists visit most with the Olomouc region Card?
The list of the most heavily visited sites did not change much in the
previous year. The most popular destination for tourists was
the Zoological Gardens on Svatý Kopeček, which was visited
by 767 Olomouc region Card holders. This means almost a 100%
increase in comparison to the previous year. The other destinations
witnessed similar growth. Bouzov Castle enjoyed 535 visits, the Velké
Losiny Chateau 473 visits, Šternberk Castle 394 visits, and the Náměšť
na Hané Chateau was visited by 282 Olomouc region Card holders.
Over two hundred Olomouc region Card holders also paid a visit to the
Collection Conservatories and to the Archdiocese Museum in Olomouc.
Interest at the Museum of National Art and History, the Botanical
Garden, and miniature golf courses in Olomouc likewise held steady.
The Tovačov Chateau and the Museum of Authentic Olomouc Tvarůžky
Cheese in Loštice registered an extraordinary number of tourists using
the card, too. Card holders are granted free admission at all the above
sites.
The price and the length of time the Card is valid remain unchanged
in 2008 and interested parties can purchase a 48 hour Card for adults
for CZK 160; the Card is half-price for children. A five-day Card sells for
CZK 340 and is half-price for children up to the age of 15.
The newly introduced destinations in 2008 include five caves (Mladečské,
Javoříčské, Zbrašovské Aragonitové, Na Pomezí and Na Špičáku).
