(5) However, if in a preceding round <strong>of</strong> play the player who<br />

placed the first blind bet leaves, or there was only one blind<br />

bet in play—<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

the dealer button will move to the vacant position to<br />

the right <strong>of</strong> the second blind bet from the preceding<br />

round <strong>of</strong> play <strong>and</strong> be known as a dead button; <strong>and</strong><br />

the player to the right <strong>of</strong> the dead button will become<br />

the designated player.<br />

18 Minimum table stake<br />

(1) Subsections (2) <strong>and</strong> (3) apply if a person is about to become<br />

a new player in a round <strong>of</strong> play.<br />

(2) The person must place the person’s buy-in on the table, in<br />

full view <strong>of</strong> the dealer <strong>and</strong> all the players.<br />

(3) The buy-in must be—<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

at least the minimum buy-in <strong>and</strong> no greater than the<br />

maximum buy-in; <strong>and</strong><br />

in the form <strong>of</strong> chips, or if it is placed on the table in<br />

cash, immediately converted into chips.<br />

(4) A player must not add to the player’s table stake during a<br />

round <strong>of</strong> play.<br />

(5) A player must not reduce the player’s table stake after the<br />

commencement <strong>of</strong> the player’s first round <strong>of</strong> play, other<br />

than by taking part in a round <strong>of</strong> betting.<br />

(6) A returning player may continue to play with the table<br />

stake the player had when the player left the table, even if<br />

the table stake is less than the minimum buy-in or greater<br />

than the maximum buy-in.<br />

19 Participation fee<br />

(1) A casino operator may charge each player a fee (a<br />

participation fee) for taking part in a round <strong>of</strong> play.<br />

(2) If a participation fee is payable, the player must pay the fee<br />

before the round <strong>of</strong> play starts.
