(2) All suits <strong>of</strong> cards are equal.<br />

(3) H<strong>and</strong>s ranking the same, but with cards <strong>of</strong> different face<br />

values, rank according to the cards’ face values.<br />

(4) The ranking <strong>of</strong> cards, from lowest to highest, is 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,<br />

7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king <strong>and</strong> ace.<br />

(5) An ace may rank in a straight as high.<br />

Example for subsection (5)—<br />

a straight consisting <strong>of</strong> 10, jack, queen, king <strong>and</strong> ace<br />

(6) An ace may also rank in a straight as low.<br />

Example for subsection (6)—<br />

a straight consisting <strong>of</strong> ace, 2, 3, 4 <strong>and</strong> 5<br />

(7) If 2 or more players’ h<strong>and</strong>s have identical poker ranking<br />

<strong>and</strong> face values, the h<strong>and</strong>s are <strong>of</strong> equal ranking.<br />

Examples <strong>of</strong> application <strong>of</strong> this section—<br />

1 A 9, 10, jack, queen, king straight beats a 7, 8, 9, 10, jack straight.<br />

2 If there are 2 h<strong>and</strong>s, each containing 2 pairs, the h<strong>and</strong> holding the<br />

highest pair in face values is ranked the higher. If each h<strong>and</strong> has an<br />

equally ranked pair, the face values <strong>of</strong> the second pairs decide the<br />

outcome. If each h<strong>and</strong> has 2 equally ranked pairs, the face value <strong>of</strong><br />

the fifth card <strong>of</strong> each h<strong>and</strong> decides the outcome. If each <strong>of</strong> the fifth<br />

cards is equally ranked, the 2 h<strong>and</strong>s are <strong>of</strong> equal value.<br />

9 Meaning <strong>of</strong> raise <strong>and</strong> raises<br />

(1) A player raises in a round <strong>of</strong> betting if the player makes a<br />

wager, in accordance with the limits outlined in section 28,<br />

for an amount greater than the player’s call.
