blackjack<br />

5 Number <strong>of</strong> decks<br />

Spanish blackjack is played with—<br />

(a)<br />

(b)<br />

5 to 8 decks <strong>of</strong> cards with—<br />

(i) backs <strong>of</strong> the same colour <strong>and</strong> design; <strong>and</strong><br />

(ii) the 10 <strong>of</strong> hearts, diamonds, clubs <strong>and</strong> spades<br />

removed from the packs; <strong>and</strong><br />

2 cutting cards.<br />

6 Value <strong>of</strong> cards<br />

The value <strong>of</strong> the cards contained in each deck is as follows—<br />

(a) a card from 2 to 9 has its face value;<br />

(b) a jack, queen or king has a value <strong>of</strong> 10;<br />

(c) an ace has a value <strong>of</strong> 11 unless—<br />

(i) if a value <strong>of</strong> 11 for the ace would give a player<br />

or the dealer a point total <strong>of</strong> more than 21—the<br />

ace has a value <strong>of</strong> 1; or<br />

(ii)<br />

section 26(4) 10 applies.<br />

7 Winning <strong>and</strong> losing wagers<br />

(1) Before the first card is dealt for each round <strong>of</strong> play, each<br />

player at a game <strong>of</strong> spanish blackjack must make a wager (a<br />

spanish blackjack wager) against the dealer.<br />

(2) The wager—<br />

(a)<br />

wins if the player’s point total is not more than 21 <strong>and</strong><br />

the dealer’s point total is more than 21; or<br />

10 Section 26—<br />

(4) If a player elects to double down, any aces dealt to the player’s h<strong>and</strong> before the<br />

double down have a value <strong>of</strong> 1, not 11.
