The bank<br />

17 Use <strong>of</strong> the chung<br />

(1) If a player is banker for a round <strong>of</strong> play, a chung is placed<br />

in front <strong>of</strong> the player’s box to show that the player is<br />

banker.<br />

(2) If the house is banker for a round <strong>of</strong> play, a chung is placed<br />

in front <strong>of</strong> the area designated for the game as box 1 to<br />

show that the house is banker.<br />

(3) If a player <strong>and</strong> the house are co-bankers, a chung or a cobank<br />

marker is placed to show that the player <strong>and</strong> the house<br />

are co-bankers.<br />

18 Appointment as banker<br />

(1) The house is banker exclusively unless a player is a<br />

player/banker or co-banker.<br />

(2) For a player to be a player/banker or co-banker, the player<br />

must have played the previous round <strong>of</strong> play on the box on<br />

which the player intends to take the bank.<br />

(3) However, if a player is player/banker or co-banker for the<br />

round <strong>of</strong> play immediately after a round <strong>of</strong> play for which<br />

the house was banker, the player may be player/banker or<br />

co-banker on the box designated as box 1.<br />

(4) For a player to be player/banker, the player must be able to<br />

cover all other players’ wagers.<br />

(5) A player qualified to be player/banker may choose to be cobanker.<br />

(6) Two or more players may combine their chips to become<br />

player/banker.<br />

(7) If subsection (6) applies, the players who are<br />

player/banker—<br />

(a) must choose a player or players to h<strong>and</strong>le the tiles;<br />

<strong>and</strong>
