<strong>Crochet</strong> Hook: 10mm [US N-15].<br />
Yarn needle.<br />
GAUGE: 8 dc = 4"; 5 rows = 4" in pat with 2 str<strong>and</strong>s held<br />
together. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to<br />
obtain the gauge.<br />
NOTE: Hold one str<strong>and</strong> each CA <strong>and</strong> CB together as one<br />
throughout.<br />
SPECIAL ABBREVIATION:<br />
PST (Puff St) = [Yo <strong>and</strong> draw up a loop] 3 times all in same<br />
st, yo <strong>and</strong> draw through all 7 loops on hook.<br />
HAT: Ch 5; join with a sl st to form a ring.<br />
Round 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in ring; join with a sl st in top of ch-3;<br />
TURN – 16 sts.<br />
Row 1: Ch 3, PST in joining, ch 1, [PST in next dc, ch 1] 14<br />
times, (PST, dc) all in last dc; TURN – 16 PST.<br />
Row 2 (Right Side): Ch 3, dc in first dc, [dc in PST, dc in sp,<br />
dc in PST, 2 dc in sp] 7 times, dc in PST, dc in sp, dc in PST,<br />
2 dc in top of ch-3; turn – 42 sts.<br />
Row 3: Ch 3, PST in first dc, [ch 1, skip next dc, PST in next<br />
dc] 20 times, dc in top of ch-3; turn –21 PST.<br />
Rows 4 <strong>and</strong> 6: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each PST <strong>and</strong> sp<br />
around, dc in top of ch-3; turn – 43 sts.<br />
Rows 5 <strong>and</strong> 7: Ch 3, skip first dc, PST in next dc, [ch 1, skip<br />
next dc, PST in next dc] 20 times, dc in top of ch-3; turn.<br />
Row 8: Ch 1, sc in each st <strong>and</strong> sp across <strong>and</strong> in top of ch-3;<br />
turn.<br />
Row 9: Ch 4, skip first sc, tr in next 2 sc, [2 tr in next sc, tr in<br />
next 2 sc] 13 times, tr in last sc; turn – 56 sts.<br />
Row 10: Ch 1, sc in each tr around <strong>and</strong> in top of ch-4. Fasten<br />
off. Sew back seam. Weave in ends.<br />
SCARF: Ch 13. Row 1 (Wrong Side): Dc in 4th ch from<br />
hook <strong>and</strong> in each ch across; turn; 11 sts.<br />
Row 2: Ch 3, skip first dc, PST in next dc, [ch 1, skip next dc,<br />
PST in next dc] 4 times, dc in top of ch-3; turn.<br />
Row 3: Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in each PST <strong>and</strong> sp across <strong>and</strong><br />
in top of ch-3; turn.<br />
Rep Rows 1 <strong>and</strong> 2 until approximately 56" from beg, end row<br />
2. Fasten off. Weave in ends.<br />
