Yarn needle; 4 split ring stitch markers.<br />

CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to<br />

obtain the gauge.<br />

Finished Measurement: 38" across back.<br />

BODY: Ch 141.<br />

Row 1 (Wrong Side): Dc in 4th ch from hook,<br />

skip next ch; * 2 dc in next ch – V-st made; skip<br />

next ch; repeat from * to last 2 ch; dc in each of<br />

last 2 ch; turn – 67 V-sts.<br />

Row 2 (Right Side): Ch 3, skip first dc, dc in<br />

next dc; 2 dc between the 2 dc of next V-st – V-<br />

st over V-st made; * V-st over V-st; repeat from<br />

* to last 2 sts; dc in next dc, dc in top of turning<br />

ch; turn.<br />

Repeat Row 2 for pattern until 15" from beg, end<br />

by working a wrong side row. Do not fasten off.<br />

Place a split ring marker at each end of last row.<br />

Collar (Second Half)-Row 1: Place a split ring<br />

marker at each end of beginning chain. With right<br />

side of Body facing, join yarn in first ch; ch 3, dc in<br />

next ch, ch 1, skip next ch, * V-st between next 2<br />

dc, ch 1, skip next ch; repeat from * to last 2 ch; dc<br />

in last 2 ch; turn.<br />

Rows 1-22: Work same as for First Half of Collar.<br />

FINISHING: Weave in ends. With right side facing,<br />

fold rectangle in half, matching chain and last<br />

row edges and stitch markers. Sew side seams<br />

from edges to stitch markers, leaving remaining<br />

work open for armholes.<br />

To Wear: Place arms through armholes with<br />

opening in front. Cross ends in front and close<br />

with shawl pin, if desired. Fold upper lacy portion<br />

back to make a shawl collar.<br />
