Conclusion<br />

Was Jensen’s vision full filled and still thriving?<br />

The original Jensen landscape blueprints identify eighteen species <strong>of</strong> trees (Table 3). All <strong>of</strong><br />

these species were found in the landscape except Sourgum (Nyssa sylvatica), Tamarack (Larix<br />

laricina), and Butternut (Juglans cinerea) indicating that Jensen’s vision <strong>of</strong> a mesic <strong>for</strong>est typical<br />

<strong>of</strong> southeastern <strong>Michigan</strong> was fulilled and continues to thrive. Future analysis <strong>of</strong> the landscape<br />

will prove which species utilized the opening within the canopy due to the decline <strong>of</strong> White Ash<br />

population, most notably in sections F and G.2. Additionally, if Sugar Maples thrive to obtain<br />

canopy status within this vacancy (Fig. 3), the future education and production <strong>of</strong> maple syrup<br />

will remain <strong>for</strong> generations (Berry <strong>2006</strong>).<br />
