Two or more political subdivisions may jointly finance, construct, and operate electric<br />

utility facilities.<br />

An agreement between political subdivisions to jointly own and operate electric<br />

utility facilities must be submitted to the <strong>Attorney</strong> <strong>General</strong> for approval.<br />

A county may designate where electric lines should be placed in the right-of-way of<br />

a county road.<br />

A county may require an electric utility to relocate an electric utility line, at the<br />

utility’s expense, to allow the widening of a right-of-way, changing of a traffic lane,<br />

improving of road bed, or improving of drainage ditch in the right-of-way. The<br />

county must give the utility 30 days written notice.<br />

Chapter 1477, Subchapter C ('' 1477.101 - 1477.122)<br />

A county in which the county seat is an unincorporated community or city with a<br />

population of more than 5,000 and the commissioners court has adopted this<br />

subchapter by order may acquire a natural gas system for supplying natural gas to<br />

county buildings adequately and dependably. Bonds may be issued payable and<br />

secured by pledge of the net revenue of the system. The county shall pay for gas<br />

used by the county for its own facilities. Free service is prohibited. The county can<br />

sell any natural gas that is not needed for county purposes to a municipal corporation<br />

or political subdivision of this state, or an individual, corporation, or company under<br />

terms that the court determines are in the best interests of the county.<br />
