A county may regulate vehicular or pedestrian gates to gated communities and<br />

multi-unit housing projects in unincorporated areas of the county to assure<br />

reasonable access for fire-fighting vehicles and equipment, emergency medical<br />

services vehicles, and law enforcement officers.<br />

The commissioners court by order may require that each electric gate to a gated<br />

community or multiunit housing project be equipped with a gate-operated device that<br />

is approved by the county marshal and will activate the electric gate on the sounding<br />

of an emergency vehicle siren.<br />

A commissioners court may appoint a historical commission to initiate and conduct<br />

programs suggested by the commissioners court and the <strong>Texas</strong> Historical<br />

Commission for preservation of the county's historical cultural resources.<br />

construction of facilities designed to generate revenue for the financial benefit of the<br />
