CHP ID’s: All Students MUST have a CHP-L ID badge – you will NOT be able to get anywhere without a
badge – every place is security entrance/exit only. If you have lost your badge you will be required to get
a new one and you will be charged a $15 replacement fee. All inquires for badges need to contact

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION:
‣ Parking at the garages at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh:
o There is NO parking at the main hospital for anyone who does not have a lease for the
garage ONLY or is not a parent.
‣ Parking at 55 th /57th & Butler Street with shuttle services up to the Hospital: (NO Hanging
Tag will be issued for parking to Medical Students – you’re CHP ID Badge gets you in and out of parking
areas)
o Parking is located off Butler and 55 th or 57 th street
• coming from the Oakland/Downtown area make a LEFT onto 55 th or 57 th Street
• coming from the Highland Park (Pittsburgh Zoo) area make a RIGHT onto 55 th or
57 th Street
• go across the railroad tracks – there you’ll see a huge parking lot – the lot is
behind some industrial bldgs.
o 57 th Street is only entrance you can pull a ticket go across the railroad tracks
o Medical Students will be able to park at the lot for FREE - providing you have a CHP-ID
Badge and have filled out a parking application – if you do not have either – you will
have to pull a ticket and it will not be validated - $5/Day charge. If your ID does not
work at the lot – you may need to pull a ticket and we can validated it – just get in touch
with Marlynn Haigh as soon as possible. The hours of the shuttle service between the
hospital and 55 th & Butler Street lot will be 4:30AM - 1:00AM
o If you are coming in during the weekdays for shift work (after 2:30pm) or are on-call
during the weekend or work a holiday ONLY– you will be able to park in the North
(Staff) Garage only (this is the VERY LAST BUILDING behind the hospital) – your
badge will work to get you in and out like it does at the lot – if not PLEASE let Marlynn
know as soon as you can.
o If you opt to ride a bike to the new hospital – you can park the bicycle in the new
hospital parking garage - bike racks are located in the following garages: 44 th Street -
Penn Garage; and 45 th Street – North Staff Garage – these are available to park at
no charge.

‣ Oakland/Lawrenceville Shuttle
o The Lawrenceville to Oakland shuttle consists of two buses running simultaneously from
7:40am – 5:40pm. One begins its route in Lawrenceville, the other in Oakland.
o One-way average commute time is approximately 15-20 minutes, but is subject to
morning and evening rush hour traffic and any other traffic delays.
o
Oakland Shuttle Stops The Lawrenceville/Oakland shuttle should note that the bus makes a
loop in Oakland. Drop off and pick up stops are as follows:
• Fifth Avenue in front of Falk Clinic
• Victoria Street at the shelter between Lothrop and Darraugh streets
• Terrace Street in front of Scaife Hall
• The shuttle also stops at O’Hara Street in front of Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic
o In Lawrenceville, shuttle will pick up/drop off at Main Lobby driveway

‣ Rangos Research Facility Access at Children’s Hospital:
o Your current CHP ID’s does not give you access to the Rangos Research Center
o Get in touch with the Administrative Assistant in Rangos who works with your preceptor;
that person will need to complete an online Request Form off the CHP Intranet (you will
not be able to access this yourselves). If you can not get anyone to complete this form
for you please email Marlynn Haigh (marlynn.haigh@chp.edu)
o Your current CHP ID will then be given access to the Rangos Bldg – but this will only be
good for the time you need access to Rangos – please make sure your “de-activation
date” is only for when you complete working at RANGOS – not when you finish medical
school – as this will de-activate your badge for the entire hospital.
