Financial Advice
Maybe for the first time you are having to manage alone on a budget - and probably a very tight one
at that. There is plenty of advice available on how to live within your means.
If you need to discuss your finances there are 3 sources of specialist advice:
1. Financial Officers in Student Based Services can help with any issues with student funding,
including Access to Learning Fund (ALF), bursaries, scholarships and opportunity funds and
dealing with the Student Loan Company. http://www.lancs.ac.uk/sbs/funding/
2. The LUSU Student Advice Centre can help advise you on benefits that you might be eligible
for and have a qualified debt counsellor: http://advice.lusu.co.uk/
3. JULI IN YOUR COLLEGE OFFICE:
Lonsdale College Loans
I. If your overdraft has exceeded its limit and all other sources have dried up, you can
approach the College Office and request an interest-free college loan to tide you
over for necessities.
Travel Grant Applications
During the Lent term, you are invited to submit an application to help fund travel
that will help your degree, but isn’t part of your degree. The College have funded
amounts from £50—£500 for Camp America and travel to Europe as well as Australia
for example. For further information:
