Gain the skills you need to succeed in the modern office industry. Learn clerical<br />

techniques, industry standards and expectations, secretarial skills, simple<br />

bookkeeping, and touch up computer skills. Successful students will receive<br />

a certificate upon completion.<br />

Instructors:<br />

Peter A. Aguilera, MA Candidate, BA Psychology and Sociology, Certified<br />

Microsoft Office Specialist, LAHC <strong>Extension</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Coordinator, brings<br />

over a decade of experience to the classroom. Mr. Aguilera has served as a<br />

career advisor and vocational trainer.<br />

Eddie Afana, MBA, BS Accountancy, Bookkeeping, Computer Applications,<br />

and Office Administration Instructor, managed a family owned printing<br />

business for over 7 years. Mr. Afana currently serves as Acting Dean of<br />

Research and Planning at <strong>Los</strong> <strong>Angeles</strong> Trade Technical <strong>College</strong>.<br />

All students must enroll in both sections. Additional lab time required.<br />

Spanish for Public Personnel<br />

Make yourself more marketable by obtaining basic communication skills in the second<br />

most utilized language in Southern California. Anyone in the public service workforce<br />

should be able to assist his or her Spanish-speaking constituents. Class will focus on<br />

conversation, proper phrases, greetings and common phrases of assistance. Successful<br />

participants will receive a certificate. Class size is limited, register early. *Text available in<br />

LAHC Bookstore.<br />

Computer Keyboarding and Typing<br />

Improve your typing skills with this self-paced class. Students will learn proper finger<br />

positioning and posture on computer keyboards with hands-on lab applications. Gain<br />

speed, accuracy, and most of all, confidence in type-written work. Typing test and<br />

certificate will be administered upon completetion of the course.<br />
