ATHLETIC TRAINING
Athletic training is an allied health profession,
which deals with the care of the physically
active. Athletic trainers are specifically
educated in prevention of athletic
injuries and to recognize, evaluate, and
assess athletic injuries. Athletic trainers
provide immediate care to injuries as well
as provide appropriate treatment and rehabilitation
to those injuries if the need arises.
At LaGrange College, the athletic training
staff's mission is to provide the best
possible care to the student-athletes at
LaGrange College.
The new athletic training room is
equipped with various modalities to aid the
athletic training staff in their attempts to
return the Panthers to the playing field or
court. In addition to a hydrotherapy room,
treatment space, taping space, and a rehab
area, the athletic training room has a physician’s
exam room. The Southern Center
for Orthopedics are the team doctors for
the athletic department and hold clinics to
see the athletes in the athletic training
room throughout the academic year
2005 GSAC RECAP
About the Great South
The Great South Athletic
Conference is an athletic affiliation
of eight NCAA Division III
member institutions in Alabama,
Georgia and Tennessee.
The purpose of the Great
South Athletic Conference is to
provide an association through
which the membership may
encourage organized competition
in intercollegiate sports. In particular,
we recognize athletics as
integral to the campus life program
of our students and as
essential to the total development
of our student-athletes. We direct
significant institutional resources
to our athletic programs to assure
that student-athletes have appropriate
coaching, facilities, equipment
and opportunities for travel
to compete against other conference
LaGrange College
A school on a mission and a school with a mission: to challenge
your mind, to inspire your soul … to change your life.
What does LaGrange College have in store for you?
Located one hour southwest of Atlanta, it offers not
only a beautiful campus, state-of-the-art facilities and a
small student-faculty ratio — but also the life-changing
college experience you are searching for.
A private school with just over 1,000 students,
LaGrange College is a place where you will quickly
feel at home and easily find your niche. A diverse liberal
arts and sciences college, we offer 51 academic
and pre-professional programs to help you pursue the
major of your choice.
And you can be sure that LaGrange College is
worth your educational investment. U.S. News &
World Report has named LaGrange a "best value"
among Southern comprehensive colleges and also has
placed us in the top 10 of its overall rankings for the
same group.
Looking for a challenge?
Challenging the mind is a priority at LaGrange.
Providing a background in the natural and social sciences,
arts, and humanities, the core classes offered at
LaGrange College help you see how subjects interrelate
while developing the research and problem-solving
skills employers and grad schools seek most.
Professors want to introduce you to real-world situations
as early and as often as possible. You'll have the
opportunity to compose musical scores in our MIDI
recording lab, perform water tests at West Point Lake,
and use our DNA fingerprinting lab in a biochemistry
class. Our faculty knows these kinds of experiences
will give you an edge on the competition when you
begin looking for a job.
LaGrange's low student-faculty ratio, 11:1, allows
professors to really get to know their students.
Teaching such small groups, our professors have the
opportunity to know your goals and help you reach
them. They have a genuine interest in you and are
eager to guide you through any challenges you may
find in college life.
