REQUIREMENTS FOR A MAJOR IN RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY WITH HONORS<br />

Students who maintain a 3.5 grade point average in departmental courses and who<br />

receive A- grades or better on their senior theses or projects may graduate with honors.<br />

REQUIREMENTS FOR A MINOR IN RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY<br />

A minor in Religion requires completion of three (3) courses in addition to the exploratory<br />

Religion requirement for the Core Curriculum: four (4) courses (12 semester hours) in all. At<br />

least two (2) courses must be at the 3000 level or above.<br />

THE CHURCH LEADERSHIP MINOR<br />

A minor in Church Leadership consists of four (4) courses in addition to the exploratory<br />

Religion requirement for the Core Curriculum: five (5) courses (15 semester hours) in all. The<br />

minor includes at least two (2) courses taken at the 3000 level or above in Area I, II, III, IV, or<br />

VI. In addition, the minor includes at least two (2) courses taken in Area V (Church Leadership).<br />

THE PHILOSOPHY MINOR<br />

No major program currently is offered in Philosophy. A minor consists of four (4) courses (12<br />

semester hours) in Area IV, of which at least two (2) courses must be taken at the 2000 level or<br />

above.<br />

THE CHURCH MUSIC PROGRAM<br />

The Church Music program is administered through the Department of Music in cooperation<br />

with the Department of Religion and Philosophy. See the Department of Music section of the<br />

Bulletin for a program description.<br />

Explorations of the Christian Faith<br />

(RLGN Core courses)<br />

Completion of any course in this area (1000-level courses) will meet the <strong>College</strong>‘s Core<br />

Curriculum requirement for an Exploratory Studies course in Religion. Please note: No other<br />

courses in Religion or Philosophy will fulfill this requirement. These courses have no<br />

prerequisites.<br />

RLGN 1101 Introduction to Christianity. (3)<br />

An introduction to the Christian tradition of faith through a study of its central symbols, sacred<br />

texts, and practices.<br />
