SPAN 2103 Intermediate Spanish I. (3)<br />

A review of grammar and syntax with practice in reading selected texts.<br />

Prerequisite: SPAN 1102 or permission of instructor<br />

SPAN 2105 Intermediate Spanish II. (3)<br />

A continuation of SPAN 2103.<br />

Prerequisite: SPAN 2103 or permission of instructor<br />

SPAN 2106 Introduction to Hispanic Literature. (3)<br />

An introductory course designed to introduce the intermediate level language student to reading<br />

and analyzing short literary works in Spanish.<br />

Prerequisite: SPAN 2103 or permission of the instructor<br />

SPAN 2199 Latin American Seminar. (1-9)<br />

A travel-study seminar that provides valuable educational experience through close contact with<br />

the contemporary life and civilization of a selected Spanish-speaking country. Basic academic<br />

preparation in the history and customs of the culture is undertaken before departure.<br />

Prerequisites: SPAN 1101, 1102, and 2103 or permission of instructor and<br />

chair of Latin American Studies and Modern Languages<br />

SPAN 3000 Spanish Conversation and Composition I. (3)<br />

A course stressing practice in speaking and writing Spanish. Not open to students fluent in<br />

Spanish.<br />

Prerequisite: SPAN 2105 or permission of instructor<br />

SPAN 3001 Spanish Conversation and Composition II. (3)<br />

A continuation of Spanish 3000. Not open to students fluent in Spanish.<br />

Prerequisite: SPAN 3000 or permission of instructor<br />

SPAN 3002 Hispanic Culture and Civilization. (3)<br />

This course provides an overview of Spain's and Latin America's cultures and civilizations.<br />

Prerequisite: SPAN 2106 or permission of instructor<br />

SPAN 3110 Special Topics. (3)<br />

The further development of Spanish language skills by focusing on a variety of professions or<br />

fields of study. Since the focus of this course changes frequently, this course may be repeated for<br />

credit.<br />
