The Molecular Biology and Biochemistry course could be switched during the third and fourth<br />

year, depending on the interest of the student.<br />

MINOR<br />

A minor in Chemistry shall consist of CHEM 1101, 1102, 2201, 2202 and two (2) additional<br />

Chemistry courses from the following:<br />

CHEM 2251, 3301, 3302, 3311, 4421, 4422, 4431, 4451<br />

Total: 22-24 semester hours<br />

Students must also demonstrate proficiency in general chemistry by passing the ACS General<br />

Chemistry Examination as stated above.<br />

AWARDS<br />

The CRC Freshman Chemistry Award is awarded annually on Honors Day to the student with<br />

the most outstanding achievement in the CHEM 1101-1102 General Chemistry sequence.<br />

The A.M. Hicks Award for outstanding achievement in organic chemistry is awarded annually<br />

on Honors Day to the student taking organic chemistry who has attained the most outstanding<br />

record. The award is made in honor of Dr. A. M. Hicks, who was a long-time faculty member<br />

and chair of the department.<br />
