Clearing All “STOPS”…<br />

<br />

“Stops” will prevent your registration!<br />

<br />

You must clear your stops before you will have<br />

access to the eSIMS registration functions.<br />

• Use DegreeWorks to view “stops”<br />

• Understand your “stops”. The most common “Stops”<br />

include:<br />

Bursar (owing a tuition/fee balance)<br />

Financial Aid (aid overpayment)<br />

Health (missing immunization proof)<br />

Library (overdue books)<br />

• Visit the appropriate office(s) to resolve “Stops” (e.g.<br />

Bursar - MB55, ESC – C107, Health – MB40). See a SFS<br />

Specialist in the ESC – C107 to get advice about resolving<br />

an outstanding/prior balance

• Make sure Financial Aid is in place<br />

Getting Academic Advisement<br />

<br />

Review the Advisement Policy* in the Schedule of Classes<br />

to see if you need an advisor’s approval before registering<br />

*Advisement is required for all students with less than<br />

30 credits & students enrolled in special programs<br />

Use DegreeWorks to<br />

• See the academic requirements you still need to complete<br />

your degree<br />

• Learn where to go for advisement<br />

<br />

Use the Schedule of Classes to prepare two possible<br />

programs for the semester<br />

<br />

Go to the <strong>LaGuardia</strong> website at www.lagcc.cuny.edu/esims<br />

for a list of activities and deadlines for Advisement and to<br />

view schedule of classes. You can also view the schedule of<br />

classes through the <strong>CUNY</strong> Portal with eScheudle<br />

Meet with an Advisor to plan and select courses<br />

After advisement, ask the advisor to make sure your “C”*<br />

stop is cleared and that you have a registration<br />

appointment

status for financial aid, insurance and visa (international<br />

• You may use a Third Party Payment Voucher<br />

offered by your employer, sponsor or private<br />

scholarship fund.<br />

• The <strong>College</strong> must have written authorization<br />

from the “third party” to bill the employer,<br />

organization, or sponsor directly. Take the<br />

voucher from your employer or sponsor to the<br />

Bursar as soon as possible after you register.<br />

• “Employee reimbursement plans” are not<br />

acceptable
