The Language Diagnostic Exams taking place in Spring 2013 will be free to the student. Starting Winter 2013, the<br />
Language Diagnostic exam will be free, but the cost of the course is $1010.<br />

Learn basic interpreter skills, such as building a personal glossary, and practice medical interpretation through role play. <br />
You will also prepare for the national Language Line <strong>Interpreter</strong> Skills Test. Language Line test fee and books are included <br />
in course tuition. Prerequisite: High school or G.E.D. diploma and passing of a Spanish English diagnostic exam. For more <br />

Course: <strong>Healthcare</strong> Concepts and Terminology for <strong>Interpreter</strong>s<br />
Strengthen your medical terminology through this advanced, intensive course that focuses on healthcare service areas and <br />
body systems. Learn techniques for researching and managing new medical vocabulary. This is the first of three courses <br />
required for Level 2 certification. Prerequisite: Passing score on Language Line <strong>Interpreter</strong> Skills Test or equivalent work <br />
experience.<br />

Course: Skills Development for <strong>Healthcare</strong> <strong>Interpreter</strong>s , Level 2 Part 1<br />
Using vocabulary learned in <strong>Healthcare</strong> Concepts and Terminology for <strong>Interpreter</strong>s, build your interpreting skills through <br />
exercises, role play and sight translation tasks. Note-‐taking, memory skills and discourse management are emphasized <br />
along with ethical decision-‐making, responding to conflicts and more. You will also work on critiquing your own <br />
performance. Offered to Spanish/English healthcare interpreters. Prerequisite/requisite: <strong>Healthcare</strong> Concepts and <br />
Terminology for <strong>Interpreter</strong>s. <br />
