We offer private, group and classroom instruction for kindergarteners through 5th graders in phonics, reading, writing, science and math as well as preparation for New York State 

exams in these areas. Children can also study art; learn to play electronic keyboards or guitar; learn Mandarin or Spanish; develop their acting talents, and much more. In College 

for Children kids make friends and have fun too! Give your children the academic and creative edge - Bring them to College for Children!

Kindergarten 

Kindergarten courses provide young children rich learning 

experiences in science, mathematics and early literacy 

development. 

KinderStart/Ages 5 & 6 

This early literacy class helps children develop beginning 

reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Activities 

are designed to develop phonological, phonemic, and 

print awareness; alphabet recognition; comprehension 

strategies; and spelling and handwriting skills.

Discovering Math & Science/ 

Ages 5 & 6 

Building upon the natural curiosity of 5 and 6 year olds, 

this class introduces children to math as the language 

and tool of science. Through observation and simple 

experiments with water, air, movement and light, children 

interact with the natural world around them while 

discovering underlying mathematical principles.

This integrated literacy course creates successful readers

This course prepares third and fourth graders to succeed 

on the English Language Arts exam, helping them

This course prepares fifth graders to succeed on the

punctuation, capitalization, sentence and paragraph 

structure, construction and organization. Test taking 

strategies and practice exams are reviewed.

Students will learn about plants and animals, and review 

the physical factors that shape the earth (energy, matter, 

weather and astronomy). They will also discuss the 

scientific method, science safety and ways to present 

scientific data. This course prepares students for both 

the performance assessment and written test.

Fun Stuff - Art, Music, Language and Theater! 

Art Workshop /Ages 6 - 10 

Explore different mediums of artistic expression, including 

printmaking, sculpture and collage, and drawing and 

painting.

Learn the basics of acting through theater games, 

movement, pantomime and improvisation. You will

sessions.
