The jackets shall be evenly, firmly and well woven with fine count
virgin ring-spun polyester in the warp ends. The jackets shall be
that might effect the serviceability of the finished product. Open
end and air entangled yarns will not be acceptable. The filler or
weft yarns shall be made of high tenacity, low stretch filament
polyester, and shall be completely covered by the warp ends.
E Lining
E-1 The lining material shall be a polyurethane compound applied
by a through-the-weave process. The material shall be applied to
create a very smooth waterway to reduce friction loss. The lining
materials shall fill the openings of the weave encapsulating each
and every warp and weft yarn. Linings that are glued or applied by
E-6 When specified for potable water, the polyurethane lining
material shall be approved by the National Sanitation Foundation
to meet NSF Standard 61.
Comply Yes _____ No _____
E-7 Ozone resistance
There shall be no visible signs of liner cracking when tested to
100 pphm at 122°F (50°C) for 100 hours.
Comply Yes _____ No _____
G Safety factors
G-1 Dura-Cote process (option)
The outer jacket shall be impregnated with a specially developed
compound. This compound when applied to the hose increases
the abrasion resistance of the fabric to well over 30,000 cycles on
an abrasion tester. Dura-Cote contains a special flame retardant,
which increases the burn resistance from less than one minute to
over five minutes on a special flame test. Dura-Cote also
decreases water pick-up by 100%, and adds resistance to
petrochemicals. Dura-Cote is available in five colors; red, yellow,
orange, blue and tan.
Comply Yes _____ No _____
G-2 When coated with Dura-Cote, hose shall pass a flame test, as
depicted below, for a period of five minutes without bursting.
3"
FLAME
Comply Yes _____ No _____
5-1/4"
G-3 When coated with Dura-Cote, hose shall pass a hot cube test
(British Standard 6391) for a period of two minutes. The procedure
calls for the test cube to be heated to 1112° F (600 °C).
Comply Yes _____ No _____
G-4 Kink Resistance
A 50' length of hose shall be pressurized to 50 psi nozzle pressure
with water flowing. A loop shall be formed in the center of the
length with the hose side by side and both couplings together. This
loop must pass through a 34" doorway without kinking or otherwise
limiting the flow of water to the nozzle.
Comply Yes _____ No _____
All tests conducted with a 15/16 straight bore nozzle.
G-6 Ponn Color Coding System (Option)
Ponn has been the leader in color coded hoses for 20 years. A one
inch stripe of contrasting color is woven into the outer jacket
running the full length of the hose for identification purposes. There
are nine colors available meeting NFPA 1901 recommendations for
pump panel discharge identification. These colors are: red, yellow,
blue, green, tan, orange, black, purple and silver.
Comply Yes _____ No _____
G-7 Color coding can be used in conjunction with the Dura-Cote
process in limited colors only as another option. The stripe color
must be a darker shade than the Dura-Cote.
Comply Yes _____ No _____
NOTE: Hose is filled with water and pressurized to 75 psi.
