SYNOPSIS
Candidates should discuss how Nyerere used ujamaa to free Tanzania
from foreign indebtedness. A discussion of Nyerere’s vision for Tanzania
and how the Arusha declaration helped him to realise his goal.
MAIN ASPECTS
Candidates should include the following aspects in their response:
Introduction: Candidates should explain Nyerere’s vision for Tanzania.
ELABORATION
Ujamaa as a basis for national development project
Political – economic management model
Abolition of discrimination based on status
Nationalisation of economy’s key sector
Encouraged Tanzanians to do things for themselves
Any other relevant response
Conclusion: Candidates should tie up their argument with a relevant
conclusion. (30)
