here.”<br />
Col. Gurfein spoke following<br />
prayers led by Chaplains<br />

Corps, and Capt. Farrell E.<br />
Evans, 430th Engineer Combat<br />
Battalion and the raising of the<br />
U.S. and ROK flags to the<br />
accompaniment of the 1st<br />
Marine Division Band.<br />
HIGH POINT of the ceremony<br />
came when Palmer, after paying<br />
tribute to the men who<br />
constructed the bridges and<br />
pass, took a pair of scissors<br />
and snipped in two the ribbon<br />
across the bridge and opened<br />
the new route to traffic.<br />
The general then led a procession<br />
of distinguished visitors<br />
across the new bridge<br />
behind the band and the color<br />
guard. Men of the 430th and<br />
other visitors completed the<br />
column.<br />

was master of ceremonies for<br />
