If, desirous of keeping you in one place, they surrounded you on all<br />

sides, you can step over them and find yourself free from them in a<br />

way quite inconceivable to them. In their eyes, you would be an allpowerful<br />

being—an inhabitant of a higher world, similar to those<br />

supernatural beings about whom theologians and metaphysicians<br />

Sally looks out the window. "Two-dimensional beings wouldn't have<br />
