"We've got to give it a try. If I can find just the right location in this<br />

room where it seems to be easy to leave three-space, I should be able to<br />

jump."<br />

First you place your hand in the air and watch a piece of the palm<br />

seem to disappear (Fig. 6.1). Next, you leap two feet into the air and are<br />

pulled back down by the chain.<br />

Perhaps it is a bit too heavy. You leap again and feel a queasy feeling in<br />

the pit of your stomach, as if someone has placed a hook there and is trying<br />

to pull your stomach up <strong>through</strong> your esophagus. You jump again,<br />

suddenly hear a hissing sound, and for an instant you feel weightless.<br />

You look down and think you see large apartments honeycombed with<br />

light. In one apartment, you see right <strong>through</strong> the walls and observe a<br />

woman, nearly naked, watching television. In the distance are honking<br />

horns and the voices of thousands of people.<br />

As you fly, you feel there is light and music coming from Washington,<br />

D.C. It is as if thousands of Washingtonians are celebrating, clapping
