Toothpaste Function
Sweeteners: improves taste and enhances the flavor qualities
of the toothpaste. Use at very low concentrations.
Water: purified water should be used to produce the desired
toothpaste quality
Polishing Agents: the type of polishing agent selected will,
to a very large degree, determine the qualities of consistency,
stability and polishing action in the formulated paste. These
qualities are best realized when 35 to 50% of the weight of the
paste is a phosphate polishing agent.
Anti-caries Agents: these agents are generally
formulated in dentifrice at 1000 ppm fluoride ion.
