SIMON AKKERMAN <strong>ACS</strong><br />
D.O.P. / Cinematographer<br />
<strong>Simon</strong>’s film and television career has totally involved Cinematography for 37 years. During this time, as Director<br />
of Photography, he has shot 6 feature films, 8 TV series, more than 20 TV documentaries, over 100 industrial and<br />
corporate videos and well over 2000 TV commercials shot on all formats. These include a total of 110 National<br />
Caltex commercials and a further several hundred Toyota adds. The multi award winning sci-fi series “Stormworld”<br />
was his most recent drama production shot on 3 continents and landing him a Cinematographic award for best<br />
Cinematography. His Directing work is highlighted with a musical visual journey through Italy. Designed for<br />
interactive TV, <strong>Simon</strong> directed as well as shot the entire production. As 2nd unit DOP he has worked on no less than<br />
15 features and series. He further has extensive experience shooting in the following countries:<br />
Belgium Thailand South Africa Austria Switzerland Singapore Germany Borneo China France Hong-Kong India<br />
Indonesia Hawaii Japan U.S.A. Philippines Ireland Pakistan Italy U.K. Netherlands East Timor Malaysia Canada<br />

<strong>Simon</strong> has also conducted a number of Cinematographic courses. Over the years he has lectured and mentored at<br />
RCTI Indonesia (1998) Edith Cowan University (2004-2005-2006) and at the International Academy of Film and<br />
Television in Cebu Philippines (2006).<br />
<strong>Simon</strong> is a fully accredited member of the Australian Cinematographers Society, <strong>ACS</strong>, and has been a committee<br />
member for several years.<br />
