it heightens your connection to the dead, it would be sufficient to make<br />
a headstone rubbing by laying a piece of thin paper over the headstone<br />
and rubbing it with powdered graphite, black chalk, or charcoal, which<br />
can be brought back to the Temple.<br />
The criminally inclined, and perhaps criminally insane<br />
Necromancer may be possessed to unearth the remains of the deceased,<br />
using the skull, the right or left hand, a section of spine, the whole<br />
skeleton, or simple personal effects with which the corpse was buried<br />
for use in his necromantic ritual. While it is beyond dispute that<br />
possessing these physical remains will establish a greater connection<br />
with the unseen remains of the deceased, the work involved and the<br />
risk taken in doing so most often is not worth the reward. It is claimed<br />
by traditional Necromancers that if one of the hands, the skull, or a<br />
section of spine (the uppermost third of the spine) is possessed by the<br />
Sorcerer, the spirit of the dead must obey his commands and will be<br />
bound to serve the Black Magician indefinitely so long as the above<br />
mentioned items are in his possession. Having disciplined oneself in<br />
the Dark Arts and being filled with the Powers of Darkness, the reign of<br />
the Black Magician will never be in contest, such fetish items being<br />
simple trinkets that could easily be done without, so long as a link can<br />
be made with the specific spirit that he wishes to summon, and a<br />
connection can be made to the land of the dead.<br />
RAISING THE DEAD<br />
The Temple should be prepared with the Triangle and the altar.<br />
Upon the altar the chalice should be set to the left, and should be filled<br />
halfway with aged wine, warmed to room temperature. The ritual<br />
dagger is to be set on the right edge of the altar, its tip pointing to the<br />
south, towards the Triangle of Manifestation. A black candle is to be set<br />
to the left and a violet candle to the right. The symbol of the doublearmed<br />
cross is to be drawn on paper and set in the center of the altar.<br />
All of the fetish items that have been collected are to be kept in a small<br />
box next to the altar. At each point of the Triangle a violet candle<br />
should be set.<br />
1. Meditate and focus your mind upon the Work that you are<br />
about to perform. Light the candles around the Triangle. Stand<br />
