question with your sons the ‘mask of<br />
masculinity’.<br />

the too often portrayed notion of manhood<br />
as a combination of toughness, promiscuity,<br />
hard drinking and a willingness to solve every<br />
conflict with violence.<br />
> Monitor their media diet. Watch what they are<br />
watching. Discuss, make comment and show concern<br />
where this is warranted. <strong>The</strong> sneakier companies, fast<br />
food industry, the soft drink industry, the music industry<br />
and others, through the mass media, shape our boys images<br />
of themselves. Tell them when they are being ‘conned’.
