s A “Crash” Course at Camp<br />
Crash, a two-year-<strong>ol</strong>d Labrador Retriever, takes<br />
direction from <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> camper Leia Mayberry,<br />
age 11. Campers interacted with a variety of animals<br />
during six week-long camp sessions in July <strong>and</strong> August<br />
designed to educate children on the proper care of<br />
companion animals <strong>and</strong> to foster compassion for all<br />
living things.<br />
s 101 Dog Lovers<br />
This May, the J*Company Youth Theatre, a program of the <strong>San</strong><br />
<strong>Diego</strong> Center for Jewish Culture at the Lawrence Family Jewish<br />
Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, ran its production<br />
of DISNEY’S 101 DALMATIANS Kids. In a partnership with the<br />
<strong>San</strong> <strong>Diego</strong> <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong>, a public service slideshow was run prior<br />
to each performance, <strong>and</strong> mobile adoptions were held on-site for two<br />
performances. Prior to the production, the 101-member cast toured<br />
the <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> facility <strong>and</strong> received information about pet care,<br />
adoption, <strong>and</strong> the prevention of animal cruelty <strong>and</strong> neglect.<br />

Hooray for H<strong>ol</strong>lywood – <strong>and</strong> Our V<strong>ol</strong>unteers!<br />
V<strong>ol</strong>unteer Bob <strong>No</strong>uchie celebrates with <strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> staff<br />
at this year’s V<strong>ol</strong>unteer Recognition Event, “A Night of Shining<br />
Stars.” Dressed as H<strong>ol</strong>lywood’s best, v<strong>ol</strong>unteers enjoyed the<br />
spotlight while receiving awards for their years of service <strong>and</strong><br />
outst<strong>and</strong>ing dedication to helping animals <strong>and</strong> people alike.<br />
With entertainment, delicious food, <strong>and</strong> fun presentations, the<br />
<strong>Humane</strong> <strong>Society</strong> honored its most exceptional v<strong>ol</strong>unteers of<br />
<strong>2008</strong>, who have so greatly have contributed to our mission!<br />
