<strong>CII</strong> receives Award for ‘Innovative Financing’<br />

at India Power Awards <strong>2010</strong><br />

US Department of State as well as USAID also support<br />

this initiative.<br />

9th Edition of Cost Congress<br />

The <strong>CII</strong> Total Cost Management (TCM) Division organised<br />

the 9th edition of Cost Congress on 17-18 November<br />

Mumbai. The theme for the event was ‘Aligning TCM<br />

with Strategic and Operational Cost Management’.<br />

Competitiveness Council presenting the India Power Award <strong>2010</strong> for<br />

Innovative Financing to <strong>CII</strong><br />

<strong>CII</strong>’s New Ventures India (NVI) on 11 November received<br />

the prestigious India Power Award <strong>2010</strong> in New Delhi for<br />

Innovative Financing from the Council of Power Utilities,<br />

for ‘aiming to mobilize equity and debt investment to<br />

finance Green products, technology and services.’ <strong>CII</strong><br />

was unanimously selected by the Jury for the Award.<br />

New Ventures India is designed to meet the needs of<br />

Indian entrepreneurs in the domain of Sustainability.<br />

It serves as a unique platform for budding ‘Green<br />

entrepreneurs’ in facilitating investments for them to scale<br />

up their operations. Further, NVI enables entrepreneurs<br />

to access larger markets, including overseas. Further,<br />

NVI enables the entrepreneurs to have greater access<br />

to markets across the globe.<br />

In the past four years, New Ventures India has been able<br />

to facilitate investments to the tune of Rs 122 crores<br />

in 15 of the portfolio<br />

companies.<br />

The key objectives of Cost Congress <strong>2010</strong> were to<br />

evolve and standardize best practices of TCM across<br />

the sectors in the industry and provide a forum for<br />

sharing best practices by indus try experts and domain<br />

experts.<br />

The TCM Manual, which is a review of the evolution and<br />

progress of the TCM Movement in India was released<br />

by Prof N Ravichandran, Director, IIM Indore, at the<br />

inaugural session.<br />
