Why <strong>Kentucky</strong>?<br />

“If I was going to come south, I wanted to make<br />

absolutely sure that I would be coached by the very<br />

best people in a program where the athletes and the<br />

team were well supported by the school. <strong>Kentucky</strong><br />

has such a great sporting reputation and Craig, Robbie<br />

and Jenae are just exactly the type <strong>of</strong> people that<br />

I wanted to spend the next few years <strong>of</strong> my life with.<br />

Coach Skinner on Edwards:<br />

“Tess is a gifted player and a great teammate. She<br />

will do whatever it takes to make an impact in our<br />

program right away and compete to be our starting<br />

setter. She is one <strong>of</strong> only a few setters at the Division<br />

I level who has the ability to excel in all areas <strong>of</strong> the<br />

setting position.”<br />

Games in 2004 and was one <strong>of</strong> only 20 athletes invited<br />

to train with the 2004 Canadian Junior National Team<br />

... Was awarded the <strong>2005</strong> Evelyn Holick Award, presented<br />

annually at the Ontario Championships to a female<br />

youth-division athlete who demonstrates the qualities <strong>of</strong><br />

determination, leadership, athletic ability, sportsmanship<br />

and fair play ... Is left-handed ... Club coach was<br />

Cathy O’Doherty.<br />

Personal – Full name is Tessa Louise Audrey Edwards<br />

... Daughter <strong>of</strong> Paul and Eva Edwards… Born Dec. 4,<br />

1987 in Ottawa, Ontario … Has four sisters - Christina<br />

(19), Laura (14), Grace (7) and Holly (4) and one brother<br />

- Dean (12).<br />

High School – Was a four-time Ontario Volleyball<br />

Association Award <strong>of</strong> Excellence recipient ... A two-time<br />

member <strong>of</strong> the Ontario Provincial team ... Served as the<br />

captain for her club teams for five <strong>of</strong> six seasons ... Was<br />

a member <strong>of</strong> the Region 6 Team at the Ontario Summer<br />

Why <strong>Kentucky</strong>?<br />

“I chose <strong>Kentucky</strong> because this place simply fits<br />

me. The girls on the team were so friendly and<br />

made me feel at home right away. I really liked the<br />

campus, and Lexington itself is so beautiful with all<br />

the horse farms around. I knew right away I wanted<br />

be a part <strong>of</strong> UK.”<br />

Coach Skinner on Fisher:<br />

"Ashlee has great jumping ability and has just begun<br />

playing outside hitter this year. We believe that she can<br />

play that position very well in college and we look forward<br />

to coaching her."<br />

Played for the Milwaukee Sting club program and<br />

helped guide her 15-Open team to a third-place finish at<br />

nationals and her 16-Open team took second at nationals<br />

in 2003, where she earned All-America honors ... Was<br />

coached at West Bend West by Laurie Scholemer ... Was<br />

coached at Milwaukee Sting by Doug Hext.<br />

Personal – Daughter <strong>of</strong> Mark and Laura Fisher …<br />

Born Sept. 27, 1986 in Fort Washington, Wisc. ... Has<br />

two sisters - Hilaree (13) and Emilee (8) and one brother<br />

- Jonathan (10).<br />

High School – Helped guide her squad to the Wisconsin<br />

state title match in 2004, earning all-tournament<br />

team honors ... Was named second-team All-Conference<br />

in the Little Ten and earned All-County recognition as a<br />

senior ... Also was named West Bend West's most valuable<br />

player in 2004 ... Was named fifth-team All-State by<br />

the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches’ Association in 2004<br />

... Was a three-year letterwinner in volleyball and also<br />

earned a high school letters in track and basketball ...<br />
