every athlete here at UK should be proud to be a part<br />

Coach Skinner on Marcum:<br />

“Leigh's experience and natural ability will help us<br />

to immediately be able to do some exciting things<br />

<strong>of</strong>fensively this season. We have dramatically changed<br />

the <strong>of</strong>fense system since last year, and Leigh has handled<br />

it very well.”<br />

2004 – Played in 23 matches, totaling 76 games ...<br />

Averaged 12.32 assists per game to lead the team and<br />

rank fourth in the conference ... Also contributed 2.25<br />

digs per game and 0.64 blocks per game ... Matched her<br />

career high with seven kills against Auburn ... Also tied<br />

her career-best digs with 18 against Valparaiso ... Totaled<br />

936 assists on the year to bring her career total to 2,615,<br />

which ranks sixth on the UK career charts ... Was named<br />

to the Dean’s list for the Spring <strong>2005</strong> semester.<br />

2003 – Played in all 126 games as UK’s only setter ...<br />

Averaged 12.39 assists per game and totaled 1,561 assists<br />

on the year, which ranks third in the single-season<br />

records at UK ... Moved into the top-10 for career assists<br />

with 1,679, which ranks eighth after only two seasons ...<br />

Was named Most Valuable Player <strong>of</strong> the Cyclone Challenge<br />

... Totaled a career-high 71 assists in a 3-2 win over<br />

LSU ... Recorded a career-best 18 digs against Virginia ...<br />

Had two six-block games to set a new career best ...<br />

Topped the 60-assist mark six times ... Was named to the<br />

SEC Academic Honor Roll and the dean’s list for the<br />

spring semester.<br />

2002 – Played in 12 matches as the reserve setter in<br />

2002, earning two starts… .Recorded 13 kills in her<br />

first year <strong>of</strong> collegiate volleyball, averaging a .235 hitting<br />

percentage… Averaged 3.93 assists per game and<br />

1.4 digs per game… Her best match <strong>of</strong> the season<br />

came on Sept. 21 vs. Oral Roberts where she recorded<br />

four kills, 34 assists and nine digs while hitting .273…<br />

Was named to the Southeastern Conference Academic<br />

Honor Roll.<br />

2001 - Redshirt season.<br />

High School - Received second-team All-State honors<br />

in Indiana her senior season in leading Noblesville<br />

to a 24-10 record... She was a four-time all-conference<br />

and all-county selection and two-time county player <strong>of</strong><br />

the year... Marcum was chosen as the Indianapolis<br />

Metro North Co-Player <strong>of</strong> the Year both her junior<br />

and senior seasons ... Also played forward on her High<br />

School basketball team for two seasons and was named<br />

first team All-County, Conference and Metro North...<br />

Coached in high school by her father, Joe Marcum…<br />

Played club volleyball at Munciana under Coach Dave<br />

Pilkington.<br />
