Chapter 3: Installing the VCode VCode User Guide 41 Installing a network card Introduction This topic provides an orientation for installing a network card when setting up a new network. If you do not need the controlling computer to connect to the general lab network, you can use the network card that your computer probably already has to connect to the VCode. You can therefore ignore this installation procedure. You will, however, still need to configure the card. To learn how this topic fits into the overall process of setting up an Ethernet network, see “Ethernet networking workflows” on page 39. Network card installation To install the network card: 1. Locate the network card in the Velocity11 DHCP Server Kit, or obtain your own network card. 2. Follow the instructions included with the card to install it in the computer. Next step The next step is to connect one or more Ethernet cables following the directions in “Connecting Ethernet cables” on page 42.
