Connecting to the
reader
To connect to the bar code reader:
1. Click the Files tab and make sure that BL-600 is selected in the
Model group box.
2. Click Com port and set the following properties:

port that the bar code reader is

This is usually port 1.
Baud rate 38400
Data bits
8 bits
Parity
None
Stop
1 bit
3. Click OK.
Changing the bar code reader’s formats
Introduction
This topic describes how to set the bar code reader’s formats in the
software and then transfer them to the reader.
For an overview of the process of changing the bar code formats stored
in the reader, see “About changing the reader’s label formats” on
page 150.
Before you start
Before you can change the bar code format:
❑ The wiring harness must be attached between the VCode and
computer, and power supplied to the harness.
❑ The bar code reader software must be open.
❑ A serial connection to the bar code reader must be open.
Setting the bar code
formats
To change the bar code reader’s formats in the software:
1. Click the Code setup tab.
2. In the list boxes of the Code 1, Code 2, Code 3 and Code 4 group
boxes, select the four formats that you want your bar code reader to
be able to read.
